Resources for the Christian Life > Bible

bible

We believe the bible is God’s inspired word to us and that he speaks to us through it. Although the bible is a diverse book of books with different human authors, styles and genres- it has one central theme and message: God’s plan of rescue in Jesus.

SERMONS

Listening and responding to what God says is an important part of being a Christian. Our services are shaped around a message from the bible (often called a sermon) and we want to help everyone listen to what God says through the bible in different ways.

Below is a link to some of our messages, and also a link to another website which has lots of other messages from the bible.

Resources for the Christian life

A Christian’s life is all about following Jesus in everything. This is best done by depending on God with other Christians as part of the church family. Often the best place to start when we have a question is to ask another Christian and learn together.

However, sometimes we want to take some time to look into a particular aspect of Christian life. This page has different categories of resources that might help us in grow and deepen in our understanding and living for Jesus in everything. Please click on a banner below to be taken to some resources that may interest you.

Sundays

We hold weekly morning service and fortnightly evening services at Pulteneytown Church in Wick. We welcome adults and children of all ages to our Sunday worship services.  Come along in casual clothing or in full morning dress - you are equally welcome.  All we ask is that everyone comes with an attitude of respect. Respect for God, our maker, and respect for our fellow human beings. Everyone who comes is given the space to pray and sing praise, meditate and read God's word under the guidance of the minister.

If needed, transport can be arranged to our Pulteneytown morning service - please contact Anne Dunnet for more information.

Faith

We are a congregation of the Church of Scotland, serving the needs of the parish of Pulteneytown and Thrumster.

The church's organisation is Presbyterian, which means that the church is run locally by Kirk Session. The Kirk Session have the parish Minister and their moderator (chairman) but are answerable to the local presbytery, the Presbytery of Caithness. And the Presbytery of Caithness are in turn answerable to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

Our beliefs about God and his purpose for this world are listed on the page entitled Statement of Faith. The window at the entry to the sanctuary of the Pulteneytown church summarises much of what we hold to be true and relevant to us as a Church today. It states that "Jesus Chist if the same, yesterday, today, forever."

Pulteneytown & Thrumster Church
